My name is Joy F Henckell. 

 

I am a retired nurse with 20+ years nursing experience. I graduated from Auburn University. I dearly love nursing, but after so many years in it I decided I wanted to try something different. After I retired I tried to think of different types of businesses that I could start that would be both fun and flexible. The idea of starting a pet sitting business immediately came to mind. This is how YOUR CRITTER SITTER BIRMINGHAM BHM Pet Sitting Services came about.
 
I have had pets almost all my life. I have a family member who is a vet so my children have been exposed to animals of all sorts. I currently have 4 cats of my own. They are a Flamepoint Himalayan (Sparky), a Chocolate Point Tortie Himalayan (Bonnie Blue), a Blue Point Himalayan (Chrissy), and a grey tabby (Henry). Henry is the newest addition to our cat family and is by far the most mischievous of the bunch. We adopted him Valentine's Day weekend, 2009 from the Greater Birmingham Humane Society. The Humane Society has lots of great cats and dogs available for adoption.  

I am a member of The National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) and Professional United Pet Sitters (PUPS). I am also a member of several online petsitting forums. I am insured thru Pet Sitters Associates, LLC.

I have found pet sitting to be fun and rewarding. Animals are always happy to see you. It's nice to get a free warm, wet kiss and see a wagging tail. It is also nice to get paid for exercising ! :-)

 

Never underestimate how smart pets are! Look @ the animals in the Tsunami.They knew long before humans that they needed to flee to safer round.Studies show elderly or widowed people who adopt a pet live longer. Studies show pet owners tend to be happier vs those living alone.
These are all great reasons to adopt a pet. They provide you with unconditional love and attention !!!!

 

 

I generally limit my pet sitting and dog walking services to Birmingham AL, (Downtown and Southside), and The Over-The-Mountain communities. This includes Homewood, all areas of Mountain Brook, Vestavia, Irondale, Crestwood, Forest Park, and the Eastwood area.I have recently decided to expand my service are to include parts of Hoover.Sometimes I do make exceptions on a case by case basis to go to slightly out  lying areas but an extra surcharge based on mileage for gas will be charged .
I care for all types of household pets except for snakes and iguanas. These are 2 fears I have yet to conquer !!! I look forward to being of service to you and your pet(s) should the need arise.
